Repairs to Church Stained Glass Window Panels
Why repair old church stained glass window panels? Usually, the stained glass windows have special meaning to the church, and are an integral part of their church history. Our current repair job is one in which the church stained glass panels were installed in 1946 by Frank's father. This is 4 years before Frank was even born. What we did was make repairs to the church stained glass windows by releading lead failures, replacing broken glass, adding new inscription plates where they were needed, remaking the frames in PVC and then adding tempered glass as protection. Now the church stained glass windows are ready for the next 63 years. Please visit our website to learn more about repairs to church stained glass window panels.

Process of building stained glass windows
The process of building a stained glass window panel today is basically unchanged since The Middle Ages. Step number one is the design. For example, religious stained glass window panels are conceived with the actual opening in mind. Is the opening a rectangle, square, gothic arch, round top or some other configuration? Next, a full-sized drawing called a cartoon is made. After the cartoon is made, glass colors are picked based on the design and the amount of light available to illuminate the stained glass window. Pieces of glass are cut from patterns made and the stained glass window panel is leaded together with lead came and soldered with lead solder. After the stained glass window panel is soldered on both sides, it is waterproofed. There are various methods of accomplishing this task, and we prefer the old-fashioned way, since it is stronger and easier to repair if a piece of glass is broken. After the waterproofing, the religious stained glass window panel is cleaned and is ready for installation. This is a very basic explanation of the process of church stained glass design. However, I will say that the most important part is listening to your customer and providing them with a stained glass window that has all the elements important to their religious experience.
