Is it stained glass or leaded glass?

The terminology is tricky. Most people refer to any leaded glass as stained glass. A leaded glass window may be composed of pieces of clear or textured glass without color and then it is called simply, "leaded glass." "Stained glass" is leaded glass with color or a combination of colored glass and painted glass. For example, a stained glass window panel with a design and possibly a biblical figure or figures. In our studio, we refer to leaded glass for a residential situation as either art glass or leaded glass and any glass for religious purposes as stained glass.
